The Resilience Accelerator

Making resilience a reality.

CRF’s Resilience Accelerator Program builds communities’ capacity for implementing solutions to climate-driven impacts

Communities and climate professionals are increasingly looking for help to incorporate climate considerations into planning and management activities. This demand is growing rapidly as community leaders across the U.S. increasingly understand that theclimate risks they are facing are very different from risks they faced prior to the rapid onset of climate change. Arguably, these risks are greatest for our nation’s poor, elderly, and minority populations who are least able to getout of harm’s way and have limited access to information and resources to help them adapt or build resilience.

The Resilience Accelerator is an adaptive capacity building program designed to support “Community Champions,” the local and regional decision-makers, leaders, and practitioners in at-risk small to mid-sized U.S. communities who can enable equitable and proactive action to address the challenges that climate change presents to their communities and the natural systems on which those communities rely.

How the Resilience Accelerator matches capacities to community needs

With generous support from the Walton Family Foundation and Wells Fargo, CRF has developed an exciting new model for philanthropy. The Resilience Accelerator is launching in 2022 by inviting applications and selecting grantees based on qualifying criteria, matching place-based grantees with Knowledge Partners according to the unique needs and capacities of each community. CRF will roll out the Resilience Accelerator broadly in 2023 and beyond.
